Indian
Culture

India is
a land that is rich in belief and culture. Festivals, dancing, music and religion are all a part of Indian culture. India
is also rich in its customs and traditions that keep its people together.
Indian
culture is as old as the hills and has a wide range of festivals, customs, traditions and a variety of dances, music, religions
and prayers.
A few of
our Indian festivals are Holi, Diwali, Id, Pongal and Christmas.
Every festival
has its own customs and rituals.
I have always felt very lucky and proud being born and brought
up in a country so rich in culture. Festivals from my point of view mean holidays, fun, feasts, presents, singing, dancing,
rituals, blessings andl loads of happiness surrounded by my family and friends - and this happens in our culture-enriched
India !
Dance and music for me are inseparable components of my life. Being
a trained Kathak dancer myself, I feel dance is an expression of untold happiness and joy which is reflected in the movements
of each and every Indian.
I am a strong believer in Lord Ganesha, and look forward to bringing
him into my home every year. My trips to the Gurdwara are also something that I really cherish. I would love to know more
about all the different religions of this country.
There are
so many festivals in India. Holi, Pongal, Christmas etc. My favourite festival
is: HOLI !
Holi
By Niharika

A dash
of colour,
And loads
of fun,
Children
shrieking around
With water
guns.
That’s
what Holi is all about,
Love, happiness
and laughter all around.
Small,
big, old or young,
The spirit
of the festival remains the same for everyone.
Krishna being the great one
Is how
the festival has begun.
Hot jalebis
And cold
milk
Is what
everyone
Eats and
drinks.
So revel
in this festival of colours,
And brighten
up your day.
Marveling
in the rainbow of colours,
No fears,
just lots of play.
