                           THE DISASTER
                    By Suruchi Gupta

On the 26th of July
Rain poured from the sky,
Many people said their last "Goodbye".
People were drenched from head to toe
Others were crying their tales of woe,
They had to in boats row
And were found running to and fro.
Bulls died, even cows
Dogs barked, "Bow Wow!"
Everybody was in a mood sad
For the day was very bad.
"We will never forget that day"
So all the newspapers say
On that day, who gave their lives away
For them from our heart - we should pray!!

Limerick

By Sanchi Vithaldas

I had a little dog

Who was a little hog,

He wore boots and a hat,

And played with a bat,

And for a friend he had a frog.

Haiku

By Sanchi Vithaldas

When things go too wrong

Just sing a real happy song

You won’t be sad long.

School

By Natasha Merchant

Yeh ! The time has come for school

Today is going to be so cool

I woke up at 7.30 in the morning
School
! School ! I started calling

School is awesome, school is cool

You can even swim in the school pool

I love all the periods, it’s so much fun

You also get a fee samosa or a bun

Today the first period is Hindi

Oops! In my desk there is a bhindi

The next period is an acting test

It’s drama! And it is the best

The day went on and on

The way to describe it is bing bang bong

Finally it’s home time

Everyone’s pen fell so did mine

I go home by bus

I never make a fuss

The only problem with school

Is that homework is its rule !!!

Books

By Natasha Merchant

Books are great

Books are fun

They are not quite expensive

They are meant for everyone

So read them, read them it’ll be fun

In books they say you shouldn’t use a gun

I think that is very right and very true

I love a character called Winnie the Pooh

To read a book is very simple

While I’m reading, I smile, and you can see a dimple

Books also give you knowledge

While I’m reading them I eat porridge

Books are so awesome and cool

I’m not talking about the ones we take to school

The school ones to study are so boring

While I read them I feel like snoring !!!

PEPPER  MY  DOG

By Natasha Merchant

I have a dog

His name is pepper

He’s a Cocker Spaniel

And he’s very clever.

          He’s black, white and grey

He’s definitely not born in May

          Pepper is my second brother

          Niraj, Pepper and me

Share the same father and mother

He likes to jump, my little dog

I don’t think he likes the fog

I’m very glad we didn’t name him Mog

‘Cause he sleeps like a log

This cutie pie is a boy

You should see him play with his toy

If he doesn’t get his chewy bones “Greenies”

He thinks all of us are meanies

I finally got a dog YIPPEE!!!

Pepper is just perfect for me

MY TEACHER

By Natasha Merchant

Our class teacher Ms Sasoon is very sweet and kind

She’s got an incredibly intelligent mind

In her class we play and study

She doesn’t like it if we get too muddy

We study English, History, and Geography galore

We want to learn more and more

But Ms Sasoon never forgets a game

Only to study is not her aim

Ms. Sasoon likes to make everything colourful

She also likes to work with wool

In writing she can never be last

I am not even half as fast

She gives a little homework at a time

Ms. Sasoon loves to watch us mime

Different things and different objects

I don’t think she likes eggs

When it’s home time to everyone she says “goodbye”

She looks everyone in the eye

She doesn’t shout if you get 1 or 2 wrong in a test

Ms. Sasoon the fourth standard teacher is the best !!!

When Papa Showed Up in the  Middle of the

                                                Night

                           By Natasha Merchant

Knock, knock, knock!

Who’s that? Now what?

I know for sure the door’s shut tight

Who would come in the middle of the night?

When I peer I see a man,

He’s looking good looking cool,

What he’s got is a wonderful tan,

From the time spent in the swimming pool

Oh no! Who can it be?

He looks so much like Niraj to me !

Oh my gosh I see it’s Papa

What a surprise it will be for Mama

I’m going to tell Mama to give him a hug,

She’ll take him a big cold lemonade jug,

He’s come from Chennai a long way off,

I’m happy I’m thrilled I’m laughing a lot !

Last week’s class was devoted to forms of poetry, including the limerick, haiku, sonnet, narrative and lyric poems. The following sonnet was written during class, in a matter of minutes, by Shashwat ! It follows the pattern of the Shakespearean sonnet.

                                 SONNET

                   By Shashwat Srivastava

           There was once a tiger

           Who was very small,

           He lived in Niger

And one day had a drastic fall.

He stayed in the hole and gave a shout

          As he was not strong

          Enough to pull himself out

And he stayed there and sang an unhappy song

         He waited for a band

        To rescue him

From that place which seemed like sand

        Because he was too dim

To realize that he was stuck in a large pot

And while waiting there, began to rot.

I WANT TO REACH THE SKY

                            By Ashmi Shah

I want to reach the sky …

                Where clouds and birds live

Up, up and up very high.

I just want to reach the sky.

It attracts me when I see it,

I wonder what if I could,

Will I or will I not?

I hope, just hope I would.

I want to reach the sky

To see the clouds and birds,

Also to see the rain fall

From the sky which is tall.

And if I would. Oh my !

                     MY SISTER

                  By Ashmi Shah

She runs here and there and everywhere,

She’s naughty and sometimes mad,

But I know that she loves me,

So that way I’m GLAD.

Always makes a big fuss an cries

When she’s not got what she wants,

Her efforts are always in vain but she tries and tries,

Sometimes good and sometimes bad, but always thinks about me.

I know, no one would have a sis like mine,

‘Cause she’s unusual and both good and bad,

If anyone would, he’d have to pay a fine,

So no one would even think of having a sister like mine.
