JUST A BOOK REPORT
By Ashmi Shah
Books are
man’s best friends. A book can make you more happy than anyone else. A book can seep you inside it like a frog catching
a fly.
I love reading. I rely on books. My favourite author is Cornelia Funke. She
is a splendid writer. Her words actually pull you inside
the book till you are no longer in your world. I have read INKHEART, and DRAGON RIDER which are written by her. She weaves
the letters beautifully. I am truly inspired by her writing.
INKHEART
is a fabulous book. It’s about a girl, Meggie, and her father Mo. Their “belief” is that Meggie’s
mother disappeared one night. Mo has the power of reading people and things inside the book, and bringing things out. By mistake,
Meggie’s mother flows into the book, and out comes Danger – a cruel fellow, Capricorn.
DRAGON
RIDER is about a friendly dragon called Firedrake who lives in the Valley
of Dragons, which was going to be captured by humans. On the other side
of the world there lies the ‘Rim of the Heaven’. A place where dragons can live in peace forever. On the way Firedrake
comes across many creatures who help him to complete the Mission.
But …. A dangerous dragon, Nettlebrand, is following them to destroy the last dragon on earth.
So JUST
READ ON !!
And now I’m reading the THIEF LORD, by Cornelia Funke.

MALORY
TOWERS – By Enid Blyton
Reviewed by Suruchi Gupta
Malory Towers is a
series of novels where the author takes us through the ups and downs at a girls’ boarding school. There are six terms
at Malory Towers,
divided into six different books.
FIRST TERM (Book 1)
The lead
role, Darrell Rivers, when she arrives at Malory Towers, has lots of exciting adventures in store! She makes new friends, there are some
practical jokes and plenty of fun too, but Darrell has some problems in controlling her temper.
SECOND TERM (Book 2)
Darrell
and her friends, Sally, Gwendoline, Mary-Lou and all the others are now in the second form and they are all as lively as ever.
Alicia plays a terrible trick with invisible chalk on Mam’zelle Dupont, and
Gwendoline and Daphne inevitably get into trouble.
THIRD TERM (Book 3)
Darrell
returns for another term to find several new girls in her form. There is Zerelda, the American girl; Bill, short for Whilhelmina,
who is mad about horses, and Mavis, who has a remarkable voice and is sure that she will become an opera singer.
UPPER FOURTH (Book
4)
Another
exciting year! Darrell with her temper, Alicia with her tricks, timid Mary-Lou and the madcaps Belinda and Irene. This year,
there is the tension of exams, but there is all the fun of the summer term as well as the high spirits of the girls.
IN THE FIFTH (Book 5)
Games,
lessons, quarrels, rows and tricks all form a part of a lively fifth term for Darrell, but the biggest event of all is the
fifth form “pantomime”, Cinderella, written, acted and produced entirely by the girls. It generates a lot of fun,
but also a surprising amount of trouble.
LAST TERM (Book
6)
In this
final book, Darrell becomes Head Girl. Unfortunately, not everyone is as responsible as her, but she sees many changes in
her school friends. All in all, Darrell finds her last term a lively and dramatic one.
